SEE's Directors

We started working with James in 1999 when we were conducting eyeglass clinics. In 2016 we started the pad project, along with the Blackburns. We started small, with one sewing machine and making a few pads a day, and in 2017 we contracted with 2 schools to provide pads for about 200 girls, and we then purchased and installed specialized equipment for processing the banana stems and began to add schools and more volunteers.

A unique thing about our pad program is that we have never had paid employees; the volunteers work because the schools are where they live, and they want to help their communities.

Greetings from Uganda!

We love this program contributing to the success of so many girls. We do schedule all the events and are fortunate to be representatives at many educational celebrations, such as graduations and awards ceremonies. It is a real treat when we get visitors from USA, especially George and Diana.

*******

George & Diana Franklin and James Luchivya are the founders of SEE Ministries, Inc.

In 1982 George and Diana said to each other 'there must be something we can do to serve God besides putting money in a plate.' We surrendered to God's plan, not knowing what it was. We worked with several internal new convert programs at church, such as cottage studies etc. and then began working with World Bible School. In 1985 God opened foreign travel and He sent George off to Ghana West Africa to help with WBS follow-up campaigns. We've worked in seven African countries since then.

Beginning in 1999 when we met James Luchivya, we conducted free eyeglass clinics in several African countries, mostly with the Mbale Mission Team in Uganda

From 2016 till present, we have manufactured and distributed free disposable sanitary pads to the girls in primary schools in Mbale District, Uganda. Our goal is helping primary schoolgirls stay in school.

Today we have agreements with 15 schools, with 2600 eligible girls.

Dr. Chris Blackburn

We met Chris and his wife Pat in Malawi in 2014. They lived and practiced medicine in U.K. We liked each other and have been traveling together since then. Chris was a head and neck surgeon, and Pat, who passed away in 2017. was an accomplished psychiatrist. Their ministry was addiction recovery, using the 12-Step Program, and they traveled extensively, helping many people overcome their addictions. Chris has continued the addiction recovery ministry in Uganda and Kenya, and has established many support groups. Two years ago, he also became a Director with the British Foundation Jacob's Well and has been instrumental in building an orphanage in Namayingo Uganda.

A humorous happening is that Edith Luchivya wanted to work with Dr. Chris in his recovery program, and one of her groups consisting of about a dozen young men formed a football (soccer) team! It was really a lot of fun when we met them in September 2025 - the boys love Edith like their mother.

Bob Hoy

Bob has been a big supporter of SEE Ministries since we began. In 2019 we asked Bob if he would like to be a Director, and he said yes before we got the whole sentence out!

Bob went to Africa with us in 2020 to witness SEE's complete program, meet the volunteers and see the girls. Everyone was delighted to have him aboard.
