We started working with James in 1999 when we were conducting eyeglass clinics. In 2016 we started the pad project, along with the Blackburns. We started small, with one sewing machine and making a few pads a day, and in 2017 we contracted with 2 schools to provide pads for about 200 girls, and we then purchased and installed specialized equipment for processing the banana stems and began to add schools and more volunteers.

A unique thing about our pad program is that we have never had paid employees; the volunteers work because the schools are where they live, and they want to help their communities.

Greetings from James & Edith in Uganda!

We love this program contributing to the success of so many girls. We do schedule all the events and are fortunate to be representatives at many educational celebrations, such as graduations and awards ceremonies. It is a real treat when we get visitors from USA, especially George and Diana.
